Why join? Better question is why not? You’re here because you’ve heard through the grape vine that there’s something here you may want to be a part of. Every AIAS story is different in the details, but like anything with value, you get out of it what you put in. You may want to get involved with THON or decide to take one step further and become a Chapter Leader. You’ll never know if you don’t give it a shot.

Throughout my time with the AIAS, I was able to fulfill my passions for being involved outside the studio/classroom, and in the greater community and profession, and the network of mentors, colleagues and friends that I have built through my involvement with the AIAS have afforded me so many amazing opportunities as an emerging professional, my professional career and with my service with the AIAS.
— Jared McKnight, Assoc. AIA, Former Northeast Quad Director and Chapter President

FIRM TOURS

With our proximity to the top centers for architecture in the world, we in turn visit the top firms in the world.  With our connections to firms such as Gensler, HOK, Perkins-Will, Snohetta, Bijarke Ingles Group, and HYL you have the chance to cement your future in the high ranks.

CONFERENCES

Our network expands well beyond University Park, and we actively expand ours by attending AIAS conferences across the country.  With three conferences annually, in places such as Boston, Washington DC, Seattle, Austin, and even Toronto, you are bound to have a border-less network.  In addition AIAS members get discounts for the AIA Conference which has featured prominent speakers such as Michelle Obama, Rem Koulhass and Kevin Spacey.

THON

Frequently surpassing 10 million dollars annually, the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon raises money to fight Pediatric Cancer.  Throughout the year we raise money through various fundraisers, trips, and sales to benefit the THON sole beneficiary—The Four Diamonds Fund.  The year culminates in a 46 hour, no sitting, no sleeping Dance Marathon.

Professional Development

We give you tools it takes in order to bridge the gap between architecture school and the professional world of architecture.  With events like Mock Interviews, Portfolio Workshops, Software Workshops, Firm Visits, and our Grassroots Leadership Conference in Washington D.C., we will give you the tools to success.

AIA

At some point in your career you are bound to pay dues to American Institute of Architects (AIA).  Since we have close ties to the AIA—our National Offices share the same building—you recieve the first 18 months of your membership for free.
